As a young boy, our Founder and CEO Dwayne Clark went to visit his grandmother at one of those old-fashioned “nursing homes.” It was a gloomy sort of place. Day after day, the elderly men and women stared sadly out the windows. This early experience was the inspiration for his lifelong work in senior living and his motivation to make improvements in the industry.

Our Potato Soup Foundation was established by Founder and CEO Dwayne Clark with the purpose to help Aegis Living staff in their extreme times of need. Our foundation helps employees with emergency medical treatment, funeral expenses and other crisis situations. Read about our Potato Soup Foundation.
To stay strong and get some exercise our resident, Dean, needs to walk everyday – but he is not always a willing participant. Knowing that Dean was in the Navy, our caregiver Bryon decided to ask him to “march” together. And it worked! It is this creativity and compassion of our care managers that makes Aegis Living so unique. Meet our caregivers.
As birds dash in and out of the hanging feeder and the rhythmic splash of the fountain keeps time, our courtyard is an oasis of flowering gardens and fresh herbs. Since many of our residents enjoy gardening, they are welcome to get their hands dirty or simply enjoy the new blooms while sipping a glass of iced tea.

At Aegis Living, we know when you bring together pets and residents that magic happens. Ruby, a resident in our Memory Care, has advanced dementia and does not speak. One day, our community volunteer brought her small dog. To our surprise, Ruby bent forward in her chair and clearly said, “Come here little doggy!”

Aegis Living’s annual meeting, EPIC, was transformed from a traditional business meeting to a three-day celebration of the human spirit. There are no company pie charts or sales goals.
